The Office of the U.S. Army Chief Information Officer (CIO) announced Leonel Garciga’s departure Tuesday.
In a post from the Army CIO’s LinkedIn account, officials stated that they said goodbye to Garciga on May 1 during a special ceremony honoring his service to the branch.
“The ceremony highlighted not only his [Garciga’s] many accomplishments advancing the Army’s digital transformation, cybersecurity and data strategies, but also the lasting personal and professional impact he made on teammates across the force. His leadership, vision and commitment to empowering others have left an enduring mark on the Army and the Office of the Chief Information Officer team. On behalf of the Office of the Chief Information Officer, we thank him for his service and wish him continued success in the next chapter—farewell and all the best," the post read.
Garciga became the Army CIO in 2023. Prior to this role, Garciga served as the director of Army intelligence community information management in the Office of the Deputy Chief of Staff for Intelligence. Garciga is a U.S. Navy veteran.
