Air Force Is Looking for Top Scientists for Research Labs

The service is tapping Oak Ridge Associated Universities to help recruit researchers.

The Air Force wants to bring top-level researchers into its laboratories and is turning to Oak Ridge Associated Universities (ORAU) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, to help with recruiting efforts. The service awarded a $49,264,158 indefinite-delivery/indefinite-quantity, hybrid firm-fixed-price/cost-reimbursable contract to ORAU "for the enlistment and hiring of highly-qualified, non-government, Ph.D.-level scientists and engineers," for limited-term appointments as research associates, DOD reported.

The contracted services includes attracting applicants (outreach, promotion and recruitment); conducting board/review panels; and managing and executing the program. Work will be performed in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and is expected to be complete by May 31, 2023. The award was the result of a competitive acquisition, with four offers were received. Fiscal year 2018 through 2023 research and development funds are to be obligated at the task order level; no funds were obligated at the time of award. The Air Force Office of Scientific Research, Arlington, Virginia, is the contracting activity (FA9550-18-D-0001).
