Huntington Ingalls Announces Formation of Defense and Federal Solutions Business Group

Newport News, Virginia-based Huntington Ingalls Industries has created a new Defense and Federal Solutions Business Group, the company announced on July 21. The group is part of the Huntington Ingalls' Technical Solutions division. The company's previous Fleet Support and Mission Driven Innovative Solutions (MDIS) groups were merged to form the new group. Garry Schwartz, a former Marine Corps senior officer, who was president of MDIS, will lead Defense and Federal Solutions. The move comes after a series of strategic acquisitions and major contract awards, combined with a review of existing capabilities and the division’s organizational structure, and the company hopes that the reorganization will better serve existing and future customers while achieving support function efficiencies.

“We are incredibly excited about what we have accomplished and what we plan to deliver to our customers going forward,” Schwartz said. “We have some of the most talented engineers, scientists, analysts, and technicians in the world working on helping our government solve some of its most important challenges. We look forward to leading the charge in changing how innovative solutions are provided to our government customers, particularly in the intelligence, surveillance and reconaissance, military simulation and training markets, while continuing to build on the legacy of over a century of cutting-edge naval shipbuilding and decades of fleet sustainment excellence."
