ManTech Acquires Gryphon Technologies

The systems engineering company expands ManTech’s digital engineering, predictive analytics and other capabilities.

Herndon-based ManTech International Corp. announced on December 10 that its purchase of Gryphon Technologies, a systems engineering firm, for $350 million in cash from AE Industrial Partners, was complete. The move brings more resources to ManTech’s pursuit of its focus of ‘Bringing Digital to the Mission.’

Gryphon Technologies, based in Washington, D.C., provides advanced capabilities including digital engineering, predictive analytics, data/computational science and cloud engineering solutions that drive mission success for an array of Department of Defense agencies. It has provided capabilities to the Navy, Air Force, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency, the Missile Defense Agency and other Defense Department agencies.

The acquisition adds 1,500 Gryphon employees to support ManTech’s national and homeland security practice. “We are very excited to become a part of ManTech, a recognized leader in supporting national and homeland security,” said Gryphon’s CEO and Founder, P.J. Braden. “This is a great opportunity for our employees, who will benefit from ManTech’s more than 50 years of serving our nation, as well as its advanced professional development and commitment to career enablement.”

The acquisition was subject to several governmental closing conditions and approvals, including a 30-day waiting period and approval by the Federal Trade Commission and the Department of Justice under the Hart-Scott-Rodino Act, all of which were completed.

“We are pleased to add Gryphon Technologies’ innovative technology solutions and talented people to the ManTech family,” said Kevin Phillips, ManTech chairman, president and CEO. “The addition is highly complementary and builds upon our differentiated technology capabilities, extending our Department of Defense footprint and positioning us for continued growth.”
