Rockwell Collins is Engineering an Enhanced Visual Activity System for NAVAIR
Rockwell Collins Inc., a Collins Aerospace Co., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, is awarded a $24,708,215 cost-plus-fixed-fee contract to provide for the engineering and manufacturing development of the Enhanced Visual Acuity (EVA) system. EVA will increase flight safety and mission effectiveness by allowing Department of the Navy rotary-wing and tiltrotor (RW/TR) aircrews to maintain required visual situational awareness down to Very-Low-Light-Level (VLLL) flight operations. In addition, the EVA system will provide a heads up display for pilot and co-pilot viewing of mission specific video imagery generated by the host aircraft. Work will be performed in Cedar Rapids, Iowa (40%); Santa Clara, California (30 %); Westborough, Massachusetts (15%); and Los Gatos, California (15%), and is expected to be completed in March 2023. Fiscal year 2019 research, development, test and evaluation (Navy) funds in the amount of $7,000,000 will be obligated at time of award, none of which will expire at the end of the current fiscal year. This contract was competitively procured via an electronic request for proposal; two offers were received. The Naval Air Warfare Center Aircraft Division, Patuxent River, Maryland, is the contracting activity (N00421-19-C-0038).
