Take Advantage of AFCEA’s Many Educational Opportunities

AFCEA has four ways to provide for our members’ professional development. Our Professional Development Center (PDC) offers access to programs providing certificates, undergraduate and graduate degrees as well as technical and management courses to enhance your job skills. Our program includes the Preferred Provider Program, onsite/virtual professional development courses and on-demand online classes and continuing education (CE) sessions at our events and webinars.

Our preferred providers, American Public University System, SANS Institute and Western Governors University, include two NSA/DHS designated Centers of Academic Excellence and one institute/certification organization that has U.S. Department of Defense required cybersecurity certifications. Their programs offer certificates, certifications and degrees in cybersecurity as well as business, global studies, health information technology (IT), homeland defense, IT and intelligence technology.

We also offer instructor-led, in-person professional development classes in automated high-frequency radio, military satellite communications, principles of communications, and networks and U.S. intelligence. Classes are offered to organizations at a fixed price for up to 20 students.  We are planning to offer some classes to individuals once a year in a virtual or in-person format. You can get CEUs from two of these classes.

Through on-demand online courses, you can receive certificates, take certification exams and receive CE credits from PMI, DAWIA, IACET and HRCI for a variety of topics/certifications. The course offerings include many technical and managerial fields: agile, analytic techniques, communication, computer applications, emergency management, intelligence, leadership, management, project management, security awareness, Six Sigma and Lean and women in business. Discounts are available for AFCEA members.

Many AFCEA International event sessions and SIGNAL webinars, covering a broad range of topics, have been approved by CompTIA, GIAC and/or CertNexus as CE for cybersecurity certification maintenance. Check the AFCEA YouTube playlist “CE Approved Sessions” for recorded event sessions approved for CE.  Find SIGNAL webinars in the SIGNAL Media portion of the AFCEA website. You will find a FAQ section on the CE page of our website for additional information.

Membership Matters! Many of these opportunities provide benefits to our AFCEA members such as access to member-only content, discounted exam vouchers, discounts on course fees and attendance documentation for in-person, on-site sessions. You can find more information on all these programs by visiting afcea.org/afcea-education or contacting us at pdc@afcea.org.
