IFS Boosts Sustainability Efforts With Carbon Intelligence Integration

The enterprise cloud provider aims to help companies make greener decisions.

IFS, a provider of enterprise cloud and industrial artificial intelligence (AI) software, announced Thursday its partnership with carbon intelligence platform Climatiq in an effort to help companies identify areas where they can reduce their carbon emissions.

According to an IFS press release, IFS Cloud’s emissions management module is now integrated with the Climatiq data engine, allowing customers to make “carbon-aware decisions based on their own data.”

IFS Cloud is an AI-powered platform designed to assist with enterprise resource planning, enterprise asset management, supply chain management and field service management, enhancing efficiency and productivity within companies.

Core business systems using IFS Cloud can utilize Climatiq’s carbon calculation engine and database of emission factors to make automatic carbon calculations, the release stated.

The IFS emissions management module aims to help organizations quickly calculate emissions and incorporate sustainability into their operations.

“Sustainability regulations are under constant change and review, and our customers are under increasing pressure to meet these evolving obligations while continuing to adapt,” said Caitlin Keam, vice president of sustainability applications at IFS. “By integrating Climatiq’s verified emissions factor database into emissions management in IFS Cloud, we enable organizations to embed sustainability into day-to-day operations, allowing them to adapt quickly, gain clear insights and make better decisions directly within their core system.”

IFS and Climatiq have also co-authored a white paper titled “IFS Cloud: Carbon Emissions Scope 3 Overview and Statement of Direction,” which outlines how the IFS sustainability capabilities can turn business activity data into emissions data. With emissions management, companies can streamline their reporting processes to meet global sustainability standards.

The white paper explains why scope 3 emissions—indirect greenhouse gas emissions that occur throughout a company’s operations—are hard to measure; how IFS Cloud tracks emissions in procurement, manufacturing and field service; and what companies can do to reduce their carbon emissions, resulting in smarter sourcing, optimized logistics and reduced operational risk.

“This partnership brings together IFS’s deep industry expertise and Climatiq’s carbon intelligence to put climate impact at the heart of business decision-making,” said Hessam Lavi, CEO and co-founder at Climatiq. “By embedding emissions data directly into enterprise workflows and releasing a joint white paper that outlines the path forward for scope 3 reporting, we are helping customers power the green transition through practical, data-driven solutions and collaborative research."
