Interim Navy PEO MLB Technology Director Departs

As business giants choose to move closer to the national capital, government salaries in technology are crowded out of the market.

Dave Spencer, former acting technical director for the U.S. Navy's Program Executive Office, Manpower Logistics and Business Solutions; took a new position at Amazon after about eight months in the position, according to his LinkedIn profile.

“I'm excited to share that I started a new role as a Solutions Architect at Amazon Web Services! I was attracted by the Amazon Leadership Principles and the Amazonians I know who exemplify them everyday!,” posted Spencer on his LinkedIn profile.

Spencer spoke at AFCEA’s Northern Virginia Chapter event in May and discussed the Department of the Navy’s modernization drive.

“I love the U.S. Navy & USMC community and I like to think I've grown through your comradery and guidance. I am looking forward to continue serving you from my new role!” added Spencer.

The former Navy director will presumably be involved with the Navy in his new role in the private sector.

SIGNAL unsuccessfully reached out to Spencer for comment.

Prior to becoming acting technical director, Spencer was the technical director for the Enterprise Systems and Services and Innovation Support Systems portfolio at the Manpower Logistics and Business Solutions Program Executive Office. There, he helped establish teams governance structure and advocated for program funding, according to his speaker bio the AFCEA NOVA Chapter compiled for the May event.

His career with the Navy started in 2018, where he held five positions, according to his LinkedIn profile. Spencer earned a bachelor’s degree in computer engineering from Virginia Tech and is a certified solutions architect for Amazon Web Services.
