Raytheon to Provide Maritime Patrol and Reconnaissance Radar System
Raytheon Company, McKinney, Texas, is being awarded a $25,405,003 firm-fixed-price contract for the procurement of PMA-290 maritime patrol and reconnaissance aircraft (MPRA) AN/APS-148 SeaVue radar system components. The MPRA is the primary maritime surveillance aircraft operated by the U.S. Navy. Functions and duties include anti-submarine and anti-surface warfare; command, control, communications, computer and intelligence surveillance and reconnaissance; search and rescue; drug interdiction; and exclusive economic zone protection. Work will be performed in McKinney, Texas, and is expected to be completed by May 2016. Fiscal 2014 and 2015 aircraft procurement (Navy) contract funds in the amount of $25,405,003 will be obligated at time of award and will not expire at the end of the current fiscal year. The contract was not competitively procured, in accordance with the statutory authority of 10 USC 2304(c) (1) as implemented by FAR 6.302-1; only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The Naval Surface Warfare Center, Crane, Indiana, is the contracting activity (N00164-10-G-WT78).
