Space Systems Command Announces Commercial Partnership Opportunity

Shannon Pallone, an SSC executive, seeks efficiency and outcomes.

An opportunity for partnership with the U.S. Space Force Space Systems Command (SSC), the Kronos Commercial Solutions, is set to open January 2027. Pitches are scheduled for mid to late February 2027, and contract awards are estimated to be in April 2027.

The SSC is looking to improve the effectiveness, scalability, flexibility, interoperability and resiliency of the Kronos program, said Shannon Pallone, the SSC's portfolio acquisition executive for Battle Management, Command, Control, Communication and Space Intelligence (BMC31), at day two of Space Industry Days 2026 in Los Angeles.

The SSC is responsible for leading the innovation and sustainment of the Satellite Control Network. All together, the programs are worth $21 billion. The programs all work to ensure that capabilities remain dependable in supporting synchronized multidomain operations, Pallone said.

“What does Shannon care about from a work perspective? Mission drive, integrated in focus, a bias toward speed, enterprise, architecture, discipline and operational outcomes. The fastest way to gain traction is to show how your idea accelerates warfighting outcomes,” she said.

Pallone is executive of a portfolio of programs across space domain awareness, battle management, data services, satellite control and space intelligence.

Pallone went on to explain her personal observations of being approached by the industry. A commonality she found was a surface-level approach. She listed compliance and cybersecurity; software; delivery pipelines; integration into existing systems; government environments and access; user experience and licensing; sustainment; and support all as valuable and necessary understandings.

Pallone then invited Lt. Col. Collin Greiser to speak on BMD31’s TAP lab. The Tools, Applications and Processing lab aims to increase commercial software solutions. Through testing, compliance acceleration and environment integration, the TAP lab enhances commercial solutions.

“We’ve leaned really heavily into commercial solution openings and other nontraditional pathways. This is a rousing success. We have been very intentional as an enterprise to give you a whole wide range of openings to come in and do business with us,” Pallone said.
