Labs Offer Funding to Companies in New Mexico
Through September 3, Sandia and Los Alamos National Laboratories are accepting statements of intent from companies in New Mexico as part of a technical assistance effort. The program is designed to help move prototypes and near-ready products to the commercial market.
The laboratories, both located in the state, are seeking statements of intent from innovative companies to work with lab scientists and engineers through a new program, the Technology Readiness Gross Receipts tax credit initiative. The program offers up to $150,000 in technical assistance for each New Mexican business that has a fruitful concept that they need help maturing at the labs into commercial products.
The funding can be used for prototyping, proof-of-concept, field demonstrations, technical validation, testing and development, or other activities, the labs reported.
“Sandia is looking forward to engaging with New Mexico companies in a new way,” said Mary Monson, Sandia senior manager of Technology Partnerships and Business Development. “The labs are dedicated to transferring technology and partnering with industry, and this program will help businesses use licensed lab technologies in new commercial applications.”
The statements of intent is the labs’ first call for proposals in the three-year pilot program. To apply, companies must be registered as a business in New Mexico and must have a licensed technology or execute a Cooperative Research and Development Agreement with Sandia or Los Alamos. The deadline to apply is September 3, and the first companies in the program will be selected in October, a spokesperson noted.
