Viale dell'Università, 20, Roma, Italy

The "digital transformation" process is now pervasive in all aspects of our society. Knowing and understanding the enabling technologies is therefore of fundamental importance. To this end, Hexagon Geospatial, with the support of the AFCEA Rome Chapter, organizes a workshop to better understand the technologies of Hexagon's Geospatial division, learn about the latest updates and services and listen to the best practices of many customers, offering a new perspective on how to solve the challenges arising from the digital transformation processPublic safety is one of the main areas of these challenges. Security professionals, military, law enforcement, emergency services or civil protection, have to had to face an increasingly diverse, unpredictable and demanding environment. Today, many organizations are required to handle both conventional threats and asymmetric threats such as terrorism. Geopolitical phenomena (whether it is climate change or mass migration) completes a very complex picture of public safety. The amount of geospatial information available to manage, predict and even prevent security threats is enormous, but it can also be distracting and messy. To overcome these challenges, efficient access and analysis of real-time data relating to location and threat development is critical. In a country like Italy with over 8,000 km of coastline, border surveillance is essential for national security and economic growth. At the workshop will be presented "use cases" that will demonstrate how to connect natively and in real time multi-source data such as video streaming, sensor data, radar data, business intelligence, vector data, images and so on, to enable maritime and terrestrial surveillance as part of a shared "Situation Awareness".In the era of Big Data and the Internet of Things, cyber attacks are another major threat to governments and citizens. Hexagon has solutions for managing and tracking a cyber attack within an intuitive visual analysis platform, keeping critical information safe and easily accessible to decision makers.During the workshop it will be illustrated how Hexagon technology can help users bridge the gap between data generation and data usage. New sensors and technologies for data acquisition generate huge amounts of data every day. It will be shown how to manage a cloud of billions of points distributed via web browsers to support the planning, design and engineering of activities in the Transportation, Energy, Government and Oil & Gas sectors and as advanced image processing capabilities based on Machine algorithms Learning can manage huge amounts of images and automate complex remote sensing processes. Finally it will be illustrated how to optimize operations and maintenance activities in multiple sectors within a common and unified operating framework, based on the Visual Analytics platform, reducing ownership costs and operating times.
