AFCEA International has long been dedicated to helping its members gain relevant career knowledge through the exploration of issues associated with information technology, electronics and C5ISR disciplines.

The association provides professional development opportunities for the defense, homeland security and intelligence communities relating to these key topics.

Our Preferred Providers—American Public University System, SANS Institute and Western Governors University—offer courses, certificates and degree programs to AFCEA members. These higher education institutions offer programs with the flexibility of both classroom and online study options. AFCEA also offers on-demand professional development courses by teaming with FedLearn and MindEdge to bring our members a variety of online courses in AI/data science, intelligence, security and more. Many courses have been preapproved for PMI PDUs, IACET CEUs and HRCI CEUs.

AFCEA members who have earned a certification that requires maintenance can receive continuing education through AFCEA International and chapter events, instructor-led courses and SIGNAL Media webinars. AFCEA’s instructor-led courses provide in-depth instruction on various technical topics as well as an overview of the U.S. intelligence community. AFCEA course offerings include:
Military Satellite Communications in a Net-Centric World: This course describes the fundamental aspects of satellite communication systems engineering with emphasis on the description of current and projected satellite networks in a net-centric and transitional communications environment.

Principles of Communications and Networks: This course is intended to provide an overview of the key principles of communications and networking theory, using operational military communications systems to illustrate these principles Automated High Frequency Radio: This course is designed to help military officers, government personnel and industry managers understand the opportunities and challenges presented by HF radio communications and the ability of the new generations of HF radio technology to overcome the difficulties and provide reliable, economical, long-range communications.

U.S. Intelligence: This course is designed to include laws that govern U.S. intelligence and the structure of the budget with main components, National Intelligence Program and Military Intelligence Program.
