AFCEA Helps Job Seekers

A recovering economy coupled with sequestration and a crippled Congress has left many AFCEANs looking for new or better jobs.

A recovering economy coupled with sequestration and a crippled Congress has left many AFCEANs looking for new or better jobs. Today, writing effective résumés and filling out job applications online isn’t the only way to find that perfect position. AFCEANs can take advantage of members-only tools to help the process along.

In addition to networking at AFCEA events and through individual chapters, AFCEA offers a few other places that boost a job search.

*AFCEA LinkedIn group: This members-only group features a jobs section where companies searching for job candidates post openings. In addition to the jobs section, the group’s nearly 5,000 participants discuss contract awards and other government news that indicates emerging opportunities.

*Members-Only Forum: This section of the AFCEA portal includes a Career Services forum, where members can post or search for job openings. In addition, members who visit the Members-Only Forum can share information about technology, news, education and professional development opportunities and issues.

*AFCEA Online Directories: Many of the corporate profiles in the directories include contact information for AFCEA members within the companies. Among the ways the directories can be searched are keyword, location and business categories.

*SIGNAL Online: In addition to contract award announcements, SIGNAL’s website includes the Homefront Help column, which often features information about organizations, such as the Veterans United Network, that assist military veterans land jobs.
