AFCEAN of the Month, May 2026
Marcy Dolan’s service to the Montgomery Chapter and the River Region reflects a personal commitment to bring military, civil service, industry and academia together to discuss vexing information technology (IT) issues facing our nation. A U.S. Air Force veteran, Dolan has been a significant contributor to the AFCEA Montgomery Chapter for years, serving as a stabilizing force behind the chapter’s operations. For the past four years, she has stepped up as the chapter secretary, becoming central to the organization’s daily success and long-term continuity.
Dolan is the engine behind the chapter’s monthly rhythm. She coordinates meetings through electronic invitations, diligently follows up with board members to ensure quorum and engagement, and prepares meticulous minutes for every gathering. Her communication efforts extend to the broader membership as well; she updates the chapter’s website to showcase upcoming events and uses the site’s e-blast feature to distribute news and events to our member rolls.
Beyond monthly operations, Dolan plays a pivotal role in the chapter’s largest undertaking. She has been instrumental in the success of the annual Montgomery IT Summit for the past 10 years. Specifically, for the last four years, she has led the registration committee, serving as the first point of contact for attendees and ensuring a seamless start to the event.
Dolan also serves as the guardian of the chapter’s history. By maintaining the chapter’s Google Drive, she ensures continuity, reliable access to information and preservation of institutional knowledge.
Like so many AFCEANs, Dolan has a full-time day job in the IT industry, serving as a consultant for small businesses identifying contract opportunities, guiding stakeholders through the acquisition process and advising on strategy to capitalize on opportunities within the federal and defense ecosystem.
Beyond her organizational efforts, Dolan is a respected voice within the chapter, known for concise summations of meetings, clear action lists, a collegial spirit and a tireless work ethic. She embodies the AFCEA core values of knowledge, integrity and service.
