AFCEA's Professional Development Center Offers Development and Continuing Education Opportunities

AFCEA’s Professional Development Center (PDC) provides several ways for AFCEA members to pursue education and development opportunities.

AFCEA’s Professional Development Center (PDC) provides several ways for AFCEA members to pursue education and development opportunities. AFCEA offers continuing education for attending approved sessions at nearly all its events. Certification organizations CompTIA, GIAC and CertNexus review session descriptions to determine which sessions support continuing education requirements for cybersecurity certification maintenance. Event sessions may also support (ISC)2, National Contract Management Association (NCMA), Project Management Institute (PMI), GAGAS and Defense Acquisition Workforce continuing education and/or certification maintenance. For more information, visit www.afcea.org/site/Education?q=education/continuing-education-credits.

Additionally, AFCEA offers on-site, instructor-led professional development classes, saving organizations time and money as instructors go to the organization’s location, so employees do not have to travel. These courses include: Automated High Frequency Radio; Military Satellite Communications In A Net-Centric Communications World; Principles of Communications and Networks; and U.S. Intelligence: Introduction. Courses run two to four days and offer instruction and insights from highly sought-after experts. For more information, visit www.afcea.org/site/?q=education/onsite-courses.

A third AFCEA PDC offering is through the association’s agreements with Preferred Providers. Two of AFCEA’s Preferred Providers, American Public University System and Western Governors University, have been certified by the National Security Agency’s  Center of Academic Excellence-Cyber Defense. The third, The SANS Institute, was launched in 1989 as a cooperative for information security thought leadership. All three Preferred Providers offer AFCEA members opportunities to pursue bachelor’s or master’s degrees, certification programs and other continuing education opportunities. For more information, visit www.afcea.org/site/?q=education/preferred-providers.

Last but not least, AFCEA offers its members a variety of popular and in-demand professional development courses, including project management, leadership, Agile, Six Sigma and Lean, communication, intelligence, management and women in business. More than 80 courses are available and offered to AFCEANs at a discount. Many courses have been preapproved for PMI PDUs, IACET CEUs and HRCI CEUs.
