U.K. Defense Innovation Arm Selects Polystream's Synthetic Training Technology

The U.K. Defense and Security Accelerator recently awarded a contract to Polystream, an intelligence-backed, deep-techology startup, according to a June 16 release. Under the triple figure contract, Polystream, based in Guilford in the United Kingdom, will develop a prototype deployable plug and play synthetic training technology. The cloud-based system will rely on Polystream’s streaming technology that can be dropped into any terrain to deliver virtual 3D interactive training to 30 soldiers using legacy hardware.
 
"Currently, for a majority of simulation training scenarios, soldiers have to be brought back from the field where training is then delivered in static classroom locations using traditional approaches," the release stated. "Polystream’s approach leveraging their transformational platform will enable immersive training to be deployable in any environment, whether it be in a tent or tank shed, in a jungle or desert. Enabling a whole platoon to benefit from scenario-based training whilst they are in the field will equip them with life-saving skills much more quickly."
 
To augment the system, Polystream partnered with Bohemia Interactive Simulations (BISim), a global software company that creates simulation training for defense applications. BISim’s Virtual Battlespace 3 powers the Defense Virtual Simulation program, which the U.K. Ministry of Defense uses to enable interoperable, accessible and deployable virtual simulation capabilities. 

The Ministry is currently conducting final trials of the Polystream's technology before field deployment, the release reported.
