Defense Team Welcomes Lt. Gen. Bob Wood, USA (Ret.)

Lt. Gen. John R. (Bob) Wood, USA (Ret.), is AFCEA's new executive vice president, defense.

Lt. Gen. John R. (Bob) Wood, USA (Ret.), is AFCEA’s new executive vice president, defense, following in the footsteps of Lt. Gen. John Dubia, USA (Ret.), who retires from AFCEA at the end of this month. Gen. Wood has more than 36 years of distinguished service with command, operations and planning experience in U.S. Army, joint and coalition commands, culminating in duties as the deputy commander, U.S. Joint Forces Command, Norfolk, Virginia, 2005-2008.

A graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, the general is a career field artillery officer. He commanded at multiple levels of the Army, including command of the 2nd Infantry Division, Republic of South Korea, positioned just south of the Korean Demilitarized Zone facing North Korea.

In addition to the Military Academy, his education includes a Master of Business Administration in business economics from the University of Chicago; White House Fellow, National Security Council; National Security Fellow, Walsh School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University; and a Master of Military Arts and Sciences, U.S. Army Command and General Staff College.

After retiring from the Army, Gen. Wood founded Star Strategies Group, a consulting firm in Alexandria, Virginia, which focuses on strategic planning, technology integration and leader development.
