Biotechnology “will transform industries as diverse as agriculture, health, industrials, materials, and energy, and converge with disciplines like chemistry, artificial intelligence, computer science, data science, physics, and nanotechnology in ways that today we can only begin to foresee… The national security imperative of biotech leadership cannot be overstated.” (SCSP, 2023)

This pivotal session kicks off with Sarah Glaven, Ph.D. providing a comprehensive overview of national needs and opportunities from the perspective of the White House. The conversation continues with Thomas Tubon, Ph.D. addressing workforce challenges and opportunities in biotechnology, and Anna Puglisi and Jason Aulds, Ph.D. discussing the exploitation of the US biotechnology market. The session concludes with Kate Sixt, Ph.D. outlining forthcoming federal investments aimed at maintaining America’s leading role in the global bioeconomy. Gerald Epstein, Ph.D. will serve as moderator.
