TAMPA-ST. PETERSBURG CHAPTER CHAPTER - Jun 21, 2007

Lt. Col. Mike Bramble, USMC, assistant chief of staff, G-6, US Marine Corps Forces Central Command (USMARCENT), was the guest speaker at the June luncheon, where he discussed his work. His unit is comprised of 225 military, government and contracted employees that operate out of the primary headquarters at MacDill Air Force base and the secondary Naval Support Activity complex in Bahrain. These men and women are working with communication units that are attached from other Marine commands. The purpose is to replace Marine tactical communication systems with command transmission, multiplexers, telephone switch, voice/video/data networks and technology control facilities to support United States allied coalition forces. There are currently four units in operation: a command element and ground combat unit in Fallujah, an aviation unit in Al Asad and a combat logistic unit in Taqaddum. He said that USMARCENT's future goals include increased resiliency, robustness and redundancy of Marine command networks.
