Presentation: Doug Riecken, Ph.D.

The technology and policy spheres are currently teeming with discussions on artificial intelligence, and yet we may still be underselling its potential to enhance national security and economic prosperity – both on its own and in its supporting role in advancing other critical and emerging technologies.

This essential session begins with Tess DeBlanc-Knowles (NSF) discussing President Biden's AI Executive Order. Gundeep Ahluwalia (DOL CIO) will join for a discussion on the federal government's AI use cases, providing a comprehensive overview of the current state of AI, with moderation provided by Margie Graves (IBM Center for the Business of Government).

The conversation then shifts to the future, with Kimberly Sablon (DoD) setting the stage for a panel discussion on the interconnections of AI with other critical and emerging technologies. Steven Fairchild, Ph.D. (MITRE) and Doug Riecken, Ph.D. (AFOSR) will join the dialogue as it delves into how AI is not just a standalone field, but a crucial enabler for the advancement of other technologies. Miles Thompson from MITRE will moderate this discussion.
