AUGUSTA-FORT GORDON CHAPTER CHAPTER - Jan 24, 2009

In January, the chapter collaborated with the National Science Center's Fort Discovery to award $5,000 in Science Teaching Tools awards to 12 teachers from Aiken, Columbia, Richmond and Jefferson counties. The grants allow science teachers to buy equipment for the classrooms. Purchases included microscopes, propane burners and a hazardous waste spill science kit. The awards were presented to Ella Rucker Baker, Sand Hills (Georgia Network of Educational and Therapeutic Services); Jim Coleman, Coleman Academy Home School; Ellen Cotton, Jefferson Elementary School; Margaret Fussell, Aiken Middle School; Debi Gibson and Carol Stewart, Tobacco Road Elementary; Kristina Istre and Donita Legoas, Diamond Lakes Elementary; Beverly Lord, Glenn Hills Elementary School; Stacey Meade, Aiken Elementary School; Dr. Marsha Moorman, Lucy Laney High School; and Janell Smith, Martinez Elementary School.
