ERIE CANAL CHAPTER CHAPTER - Aug 01, 2009

The chapter hosted its 5th Annual Airborne Network Technology Review Days and Expo in August. The Air Force Research Laboratory Information Directorate, the Naval Research Laboratory and the Army's Communications-Electronics Research, Development and Engineering Center participated in the three-day event, in which industry and government researchers, scientists and engineers discussed the technical challenges of and solutions for airborne network deployment. The chapter also hosted a technology expo that showcased airborne network research and demonstrations. The entire event drew more than 200 scientists and engineers from government, industry and academia from throughout the United States. Keynote speakers included Gen. Donald J. Hoffman, USAF, commander, Air Force Materiel Command, Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio; Carl R. Siel, chief systems engineer for the assistant secretary of the Navy for research, development and acquisition; and Dr. Ronald C. Jost, deputy assistant secretary of defense for C3, Space and Spectrum.
