CAMP PENDLETON CHAPTER CHAPTER - Jan 20, 2010

Chief Warrant Officer Benino Guerrero, USMC, a motor transport officer for the 1st Marine Expeditionary Force, served as the January speaker. He discussed mine resistant ambush protected (MRAP) vehicles and the MRAP all terrain vehicle (M-ATV). He shared that the deployment of both is key to increasing the survival rate of personnel in Iraq and Afghanistan. He explained the requirements for operator, maintenance, vehicle recovery and EGRESS training. CWO Guerrero pointed out that a maintenance advantage of the M-ATV is that it incorporates parts currently in the military supply system; this decreases maintenance backlogs. Michael Murphy, team lead for the Joint Interoperability of Tactical Command and Control Systems (JINTACCS), Marine Corps Tactical Systems Support Activity (MCTSSA) Interoperability branch, provided the Technology Spotlight on MTCSC, a woman-owned business that provides technical support to the MCTSSA, the Marine Corps Systems Command Program Manager Intelligence, and the Space and Naval Warfare Systems centers Pacific and Atlantic.
