Panel on Cloud Computing

In January, the chapter hosted a timely discussion titled “Data Center Consolidation: What's Next for Cloud Computing?” Dave McClure, associate administrator for citizen services and innovative technologies, General Services Administration, moderated the event. Panelist included Cindy Cassil, director of systems integration, Office of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), Department of State; Margie Graves, deputy CIO, Department of Homeland Security; Dawn Leaf, senior adviser, Information Technology Laboratory, and senior executive for cloud computing, National Institute of Standards and Technology; Alfred Rivera, director, Computing Services Directorate, Defense Information Systems Agency; and Bill Turnbull, associate CIO officer for advanced technology and systems integration, Department of Energy. The discussion gave insight into government needs and best practices around this important initiative. More than 340 attendees attended the panel session at the Bethesda North Marriot and Conference Center. The space was expanded to accommodate the participants and increase networking.
