Conference Discusses Global Navigation

The chapter sponsored its National Network Augmentation conference in March. The event took place at the Argentina Army University in Buenos Aires, and approximately 35 attendees heard guest speaker Nicolas Mendez Guerin from the Argentina Air Force. The conference focused on encouraging more precision than that currently provided by global navigation satellite systems, which are metric and require users to make corrections to the readings obtained at the receivers. Correction and subsequent dissemination of these corrections is critical to obtaining accurate readings, which are highly relevant given the precision navigation of mobile air, land and sea—either manned or unmanned—operations. Corrections can be made through facilities that already are operating in Argentina.
