General Addresses Warfighter Needs

In June, the chapter hosted a lunch at the Hartell House on U.S. Army Garrison-Yongsan. Maj. Gen. Larry Wells, USAF, deputy chief of staff, U.S. Forces Korea, addressed the audience with a humorous, highly motivational and informative presentation titled, “Air Force Warfighters' Perspective on C4ISR.” The general expressed the current and future command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance needs of U.S. forces in Korea. In addition, the chapter presented $1,000 scholarships to three local high school students: Jason Lamb, Seoul American High School (Defense Department Dependents Schools); Melody Horbach, Osan American High School (Defense Department Dependents Schools); and Jakob Alejandre, Seoul Foreign School (International). These three future leaders are all aiming for careers in science, technology, engineering or mathematics. The event is a milestone in the growth of the chapter, and the board looks forward to continued growth and synergy with the U.S. Forces Korea community.
