SOUTHERN NEW ENGLAND CHAPTER CHAPTER - Jul 19, 2011 |
Tour Highlights Coast Guard Cutter |
The chapter and guests toured the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter Willow (WLB-202) in July at Naval Station Newport. Ensign Rachel Post, USCG, hosted the event. All Coast Guard ships are tasked with multiple duties from search and rescue to law enforcement. This class of ship is designed and built to position and maintain aids to navigation to keep the sea-based economy moving. The cutter has a controllable pitch propeller and thrusters, which give exceptional maneuverability to tend buoys offshore and in restricted waters. |
