Sergeant Recognized with Scholarship |
In October, the chapter named Sgt. Nicholas Andersen, USMC, a special signals communicator stationed in Stuttgart, Germany, as the recipient of this year's AFCEA/CSC Defense Technical Certification Scholarship. Sgt. Andersen impressed the Selection Committee with his application and received a $2,000 scholarship. He is the special intelligence communications chief for U.S. Marine Corps Forces – Europe and Marine Corps Forces – Africa. The sergeant deployed multiple times in support of operation Iraqi Freedom. Since enlisting, Sgt. Anderson has completed a Bachelor of Science degree in information technology management, and he is working toward a Master of Science degree in information security and assurance. He has also earned several technical certifications. Sgt Anderson said, “As a community, it's important to foster a culture of continuous improvement so our skill sets don't atrophy, and that we strive to be technical experts in our field.” |
