SAN DIEGO CHAPTER CHAPTER - Mar 14, 2012

Captain Reviews SPAWAR Changes

The chapter held its March luncheon on the flight deck of the USS Midway. The USS Midway was an aircraft carrier of the U.S. Navy active in the Vietnam War and in Operation Desert Storm. It currently serves as a museum in San Diego. The chapter selected this location to host its annual joint AFCEA/National Defense Industrial Association luncheon. With more than 200 attendees, it was the largest attended luncheon this year. Capt. Bryan Lopez, USN, executive officer, Space and Naval Warfare Systems Command (SPAWAR) Systems Center Pacific (SSC PAC), gave an insightful speech to the San Diego military community on the changes SPAWAR and SSC PAC have made over the years. Capt. Lopez attended the Joint Forces Staff College, where he completed his full Joint Specialty Officer qualification before assuming command of Navy Information Operations Command San Diego, where he was subsequently selected for captain and then assumed duties as executive officer of SSC PAC. He will complete his Executive Master of Business Administration from the Naval Postgraduate School in May 2012.
