Scholarship Winners Honored

Each year, the chapter awards scholarships to deserving high school seniors in the Tri-County area who will be attending college and majoring in engineering or selected sciences. For the second consecutive year, the chapter has awarded $3,000 scholarships to 25 graduating seniors. With a record 52 applications, the competition for the scholarships was fierce. The education committee, consisting of Bruce Thackston (chair), Jack Moore, Beth Meredith, Mark Couthard, Wes Smith and Chris Ward, evaluated all applications and made the tough decisions on who received an award. At the May luncheon, 14 of the 25 scholarship awardees were recognized for their accomplishments while their families looked on in admiration.
