Chapter Presents STEM Awards

The chapter held its annual STEM Teaching Tools awards luncheon on Fort Bragg in August. With a passion for encouraging the development of the next generation of technology leaders and experts, the chapter presented more than $20,000 in grants to 22 teachers from the local Fayetteville, North Carolina, area. At the luncheon, the teachers were formally recognized, presented with a check, and given two minutes each to introduce the projects these grants would fund and the impact on their students. The Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) Teaching Tools grant is a joint effort between individual AFCEA chapters and AFCEA International's Educational Foundation to promote effective STEM teaching and to enhance the abilities of capable STEM teachers in K-12 schools worldwide. These awards are provided to local teachers to purchase tools, equipment or supplies. "This was an impressive event," said Paul Reimers, chapter president. "I am thrilled our chapter is able to team with these outstanding teachers to make a difference in the lives of thousands of students across North Carolina."
