Managing a Supercomputing Network

In March, the chapter welcomed Peter Colvin, director of program development and outreach for the Maui High Performance Computing Center (MHPCC). He spoke about his role in managing the supercomputing network at the High Performance Computer Modernization Program and the challenges he faces with finding new ways of connecting the resources to Defense Department users. He provided an overview of the MHPCC and its capabilities and discussed some of the challenges he faces with the Defense Department engineering and science and technology communities. Additionally, the chapter recognized Calvin Nomiyama as its Senior Government Leader of the Month. Anthony K. Giandomenico, Referentia, was honored as chapter Executive of the Month, and Haven Apana, PAC AOR, was honored as the AFCEAN of the Month. This month, the chapter also was pleased to recognize Nathaniel Ng from Mid Pacific Institute as the Chapter Student of the Month and Dan Cravehlo, who was celebrating his 60th anniversary with AFCEA.
