SEOUL CHAPTER CHAPTER - Nov 21, 2006

Network-Centric Operations

Vice Adm. Nancy E. Brown, USN, director for command, control, communications and computer systems (C4) systems/J-6, the Joint Staff, was the guest speaker at the Seoul Chapter's luncheon in November. Adm. Brown spoke about the Joint Chiefs of Staff network-centric operations campaign plan. She explained that the vision of the Defense Department J-6 is to bring true combat capability to the warfighter via joint network-centric operations (JNO). JNO is a combat multiplier that leads to an integrated global network. This network enables sharing of the right information at the right time, stated Adm. Brown.

After her briefing, Adm. Brown along with Seoul chapter president and U. S. Forces Korea (USFK) assistant chief of staff, J-6, Col. Greg Edwards, USAF, presented a grant to the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DoDDS)-Korea's district superintendent Charles Toth. The $3,000 grant was awarded by the Seoul Chapter for students in the DoDDS-Korea district high schools to support initiatives that advance interest in the areas of computers, telecommunications and engineering.
