Chapter Celebrates Anniversary

A group of 42 individuals and corporate members founded the chapter on May 5, 1993, and on its 20th anniversary, the chapter's board of directors organized a gala dinner to thank current and former AFCEA members, partners and supporters. More than 140 guests attended the event, including AFCEA representatives from the Slovak Chapter, the Rome Chapter and the United Kingdom Region, along with distinguished guests from the Czech government and military. Josef Strelec, chapter president, opened the evening with a speech, followed by Gen. Vlastimil Picek, CZAF (Ret.), minister, Ministry of Defense of the Czech Republic, and Jaroslav Smid, deputy director, National Security Authority. During the dinner, many individuals and corporate members received chapter awards. The chapter presented its highest award, the Silver Medal of Merit, to Lt. Gen. Petr Pavel, CZA, chief of the general staff of the Czech Armed Forces; Petr Jirasek, member of the Executive Committee and regional vice president; and Lt. Col. Eberhard Muller von der Bank (Ret.), GEA, member of the Executive Committee.
