BUCURESTI CHAPTER CHAPTER - Nov 15, 2013 |
Romanian Student Clubs Meet |
The AFCEA meeting, during the SIITME 2013 International Symposium, confirmed once more the idea that the Romanian university system supports hardworking students. Through the connections facilitated by CETTI, students studying electronic have the chance to better themselves through the financial support and projects offered by AFCEA. Col. Liviu Cosereanu, Ph.D., chapter president, and Dr.h.c. Paul Svasta, Ph.D., a professor and adviser for the AFCEA student club at the Politehnica University of Bucharest, chaired the meeting, which took place in October. Attendees included representatives from AFCEA student clubs from Technical University Cluj-Napoca (adviser Professor Dan Pitica), Politehnica University of Timisoara (adviser Professor Aurel Gontean), Dunarea de Jos University of Galati (adviser Professor Dorel Aiordachioaie) and more than 15 students. The meeting was the first contact between almost all AFCEA Romanian student clubs and the AFCEA Bucharest Chapter president. AFCEA strongly supports young students interested in research, development and innovation. In Romania, a powerful network between universities involved in electronic engineering was created and called EPETRUN (Electronic Packaging, Education Training and Research University Network). It provides two outcomes: TIE (www.tie.ro) and SIITME (www.siitme.ro). TIE is an event for students interested in CAD of electronic modules, awarding the best of them with a certificate from the industry of PCB design. SIITME is an international technical conference supported by the IEEE CPMT Society. In November, Petr Jirasek, regional vice president, met with some student club representatives and discussed international cooperation between student clubs and other administration affairs. Next year in Romania will be rich with student events. There will be several local student seminars, two international conferences and one AFCEA International symposium, which will be organized as an accompanying program to AFCEA TechNet International and the NATO NCIA Conference. |
