SOUTHERN ARIZONA CHAPTER CHAPTER - Nov 30, 2006

Col. James Harper, deputy director of capability development integration, US Army Intelligence Center & School, Fort Huachuca, Arizona, spoke at a recent Southern Arizona Chapter event. Harper delivered a featured presentation on 'Army Transformation.' His speech focused on the necessity of the United States transformation during war, including a historical perspective. Col. Harper's discussion touched on the difficulties of the Global War on Terrorism and highlighted current ongoing transformations, chractertized by a focus on strength. He described a shift from a division-based force to a brigade combat team-based force, in which protection of the individual soldier has surpassed shock to the enemy in relative importance. Col Harper praised the unprecedented training and education of today's military and projected that the outcome of the transformation will advance the technology of war and promote success in U.S. missions.
