Local Teachers Receive STEM Grants

In January, the chapter held a breakfast/awards ceremony to present the 2015 science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) grants to seven local teachers. Grant recipients are Vanessa Stone, Milbrook Elementary; Esther Blake, Chukker Creek Elementary; Julie Newman, Riverside Elementary; Amy Edwards, Mossy Creek Elementary; Robin Rogers, Jefferson Elementary; Charlotte Smith, Lakeside High School; and Debbie Murphy, River Ridge Elementary. Horace Carney, chapter scholarship chair, and Bob Damen, chapter president, helped to present the awards. These grants will be used to purchase supplies, from basic electricity kits to a Thermocycler for DNA testing. The chapter congratulations all its winners.
