PALMETTO CHAPTER CHAPTER - Aug 20, 2015 |
Chapter Assists in Scholarship Presentation |
The AFCEA Montgomery Chapter asked the Palmetto Chapter president, Col. Stamatis Smeltz, USAF, U.S. Air Forces Central Command A-6 director of communication and information, to help present the Mr. Mort Marks Memorial Scholarship in August. Palmetto Chapter First Vice President James M. Crawford and Col. Smeltz presented the scholarship for $3,000 to Cadet Kyler J. Chern, USAF ROTC, at the University of South Carolina. The Montgomery Chapter established the scholarship in 2010 through the AFCEA Educational Foundation in memory of Marks, an able member of the chapter who made many significant contributions to further its Education Foundation and the foundation's benefactors. The scholarship is presented annually to a deserving sophomore or junior cadet of the Air Force ROTC program as judged by the AFCEA ROTC Scholarship Selection Committee to exemplify the dedication, persistence, patriotism and selflessness of Marks. |
