WASHINGTON DC CHAPTER CHAPTER - Sep 10, 2015

New Leadership to Offer Diverse and Disruptive Programming

The chapter announced its 2015-16 executive board in September. Tim Solms, general manager for Microsoft's Department of Defense business, will serve as president for the 2015-16 term. He will be supported by Executive Vice President Dean Economou, branch director for the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA) at CenturyLink, and Senior Vice President Nathan Jones, vice president for federal sales at Red Hat. The chapter has a proven track record of facilitating exemplary programming that fosters collaboration between government, academia and industry. The chapter's goals include increasing focus on programming that delivers diverse and disruptive technology, Solms said. “I look forward to working with Dean and Nathan. They bring valuable passion and insight to our leadership team,” he said. Other members of the executive board include Barbara Bridges, vice president of chapter operations (Empower Solutions); Corinne Combeau, vice president of communications (Vosago); Ron Ross, vice president of STEM (BTG); Julie Smith, vice president for monthly programs (Microsoft); Randy Strong, vice president of strategic initiatives (Leidos); Jim Dillon, chief information officer (Gartner); and Harrison Simmons, chair of Young AFCEA (KForce). Other elected members include treasurer Brian Hajost (SteelCloud) and secretary Carmen McCarthy (KForce). Class of 2018 board members are Gregg “Doc” Blanchard, Lockheed Martin; Benita Bottom, Business InfoStrategies; Bill Brougham, Suss Consulting; Dennis Callahan, Palo Alto Networks; Mark Fox, Amazon; Kerry Kachekian, Harris; Gary Newgaard, Oracle; Randy Siegel, Center Circle Consultants; and Jennifer Chronis, IBM. Class of 2017 board members are Dina Flynn, Cleared Solution; Gary Langston, AT&T; David Lewis, Hewlett-Packard; Jeff Snyder, Raytheon; Al Whitmore, General Dynamics; and Cyrus Zolghadri, Formula Strategy Group. Class of 2016 board members are Anthony Robbins, Brocade; Gene Buckley, VMWare; Scott Barnett, Level 3 Communications; Marty Spain, n-tieractive; John West, Verizon; Evelyn DePalma, EMD Proconsulting; and Lon Lane, Microsoft.
