NATO Military Committee Chairman Meets With AFCEA Officials

In September, Maj. Gen. Klaus-Peter Treche, GEAF (Ret.), general manager of AFCEA Europe, and Petr Jirásek, AFCEA regional vice president, Central Eastern Europe and Baltic, made a formal office call to Gen. Petr Pavel, the new chairman of the NATO Military Committee. The officials, who met in Brussels, discussed past NATO and AFCEA cooperation, when Gen. Pavel was chief of the General Staff of the Czech Armed Forces, as well as future opportunities. Gen. Pavel expressed his gratitude that AFCEA addresses topical issues, such as cyber-related themes, and brings together NATO authorities, member governments, industry and academia to increase NATO's capabilities in all areas of command, control, communications, computers, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance. He offered his support for major events commonly organized by NATO entities and AFCEA, like NITEC 2016, which will be held in June in Tallinn, Estonia. At the end of the meeting, Jirásek presented Gen. Pavel the highest chapter award, the Gold Medal for Meritorious Service, on behalf of the Czech Chapter Board to honor the long-term partnership, service and support the general has provided to the chapter and to AFCEA International.
