Student Chapter Discusses Ongoing Projects at Student Clubs Meeting Hosted by Portugal Chapter

In May, the chapter joined an AFCEA Student Clubs Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, organized by the Portugal Chapter. This event was attended by representatives from government, industry, academia and research centers. Participants shared relevant information on the activities of defense research and development as well as new projects to enhance recruitment and other opportunities. The Covilha Student Club, based at the University of Beira Interior (UBI), was represented by Pedro Santos, club president, Jorge Reis Silva, faculty adviser and student Diogo Sousa. Santos gave a presentation about the club, focusing on its activities and ongoing projects. The club introduced the Variable-Span Wing, a morphing wing capable of changing span in flight. Moreover, two remotely piloted aircraft systems developed at UBI were presented, highlighting their configurations and capabilities.
