Student Chapter Discusses Work With Robotic Systems at Student Clubs Meeting in Lisbon

In May, the chapter joined an AFCEA Student Clubs Meeting in Lisbon, Portugal, organized by the Portugal Chapter. More than 30 participants, including representatives from government, industry, academia and research centers, exchanged relevant information on the activities of defense research and development and presented opportunities for new projects. The Porto Student Club, based at the Faculty of Engineering of Porto University (FEUP), was represented by the club's president, José Valente, students Nuno Fernandes, André Ranito, Joao Costa and Carlos Silva, under the coordination of faculty adviser José Carlos Alves. Valente spoke about the club's activities with robotic systems and unmanned aerial systems and how they have enhanced the students' interest in technological applications in defense and security. Then, Costa focused on the club's participation in the RPAS Air Cargo Challenge, and later, Fernandes highlighted the World Robotic Sailing Championship, which will take place in September.
