Speaker Discusses Internet Protocol Version 6

The chapter, in coordination with Walker and Associates Incorporated, sponsored Brandon Ross of Network Utility Force to speak on Internet Protocol version 6 (IPv6) at the Carolina Skies Club on Shaw Air Force Base, South Carolina. Ross stated in his presentation that as the pool of available addresses in the existing Internet Protocol version 4 (IPv4) run out, IPv6 is well on its way to becoming the new worldwide standard for communications on the Internet. His session highlighted the major differences in the internet protocol introduced by IPv6, as well as brief discussions of deployment experiences. Ross also gave a briefing on new features and functionality of IPv6, the new address format of IPv6, security concerns and best practices. AFCEA members received a Continuing Education Unit (CEU) credit for attending.
