Luncheon Speaker Discusses C4 Efforts at USSOCOM

The chapter welcomed Deborah Woods as guest speaker for the luncheon in August. Since 2014, Woods has served as the program executive officer (PEO) for command, control, communications and computers (C4) in the Center for Special Operations Forces’ Acquisition, Logistics and Technology (SOF AT&L) at the U.S. Special Operations Command (USSOCOM) In this capacity, she is responsible for providing rapid and focused development, acquisition, fielding, new equipment training and sustainment of SOF C4, military information support operations and civil affairs systems. She oversees 15 acquisition programs with an annual total obligation authority of over $600 million. Woods described PEO-C4's current methods and efforts to encourage innovation and experimentation and how the PEO and J6 can combine forces with industry to achieve technology/operational innovations. This was followed by a brief discussion of the December PEO-C4 capability collaboration event on non-RF communications, as well as future events.
