Transitioning from a non-IT background into IT

At the Young AFCEAN meeting in August, Bryan Bain, who serves as the change and release manager for United Parcel Service (UPS), presented highlights and lessons learned from his life and career. He successfully transitioned from a non-IT background into IT. "It opened up a whole new world," he said. While Bain's career path is not without conflict, he sees a deeper meaning in his role as an intermediary between different groups. The problems he and his team work to solve impact thousands of people in life and death scenarios, such as ensuring critical medicines are delivered to consumers on time. Chapter President Steven Dalton concluded the event by presenting a certificate to Bain for sharing his presentation.
