Visibility and Automation in the Evolving Security Landscape |
Steve Thamasett, security field solutions architect, CDW-G, gave an AFCEA credit certifications course in October on visibility and automation in the evolving security landscape. As cyber attacks become more frequent and sophisticated, the window to identify, process and protect from these attacks continues to shrink. This class covered the need to extend infrastructure visibility and consolidate data to enhance threat identification and increase automated threat response. He discussed the evolution of cyberthreats and the steps organizations need to take to adequately prevent, detect and/or respond to new attacks. The presentation was intended to educate on specific areas of the infrastructure and how different solutions can assist in enhancing the security posture of an organization. It covered infrastructure elements, including: firewalls, data center components, endpoints, DNS, email and the web. All these elements require attention from the security staff and are best viewed holistically as part of an overall security ecosystem. |
