The chapter's Young AFCEANs have created several unique opportunities. In December, as a part of the chapter's Historic Series event, 18 Young AFCEANs participated in the Bastogne Battle of the Bulge Memorial Walk. Each year, the event is held to commemorate the Battle of the Bulge and pay tribute to the thousands of soldiers who made the ultimate sacrifice. Three routes wound through terrain that only 70 years ago was home to some of the most violent battlefields Europe has seen. Staged re-enactments throughout only strengthened participants' appreciation for some of the bravest soldiers the planet as seen. The opportunity was not lost on any of the Young AFCEANs who attended, as their respect for World War II veterans only grew. This is a trip the Young AFCEANs will look forward to in the years to follow. |
