CZECH CHAPTER CHAPTER - Mar 14, 2017 |
Czech National Student Cyber Security Competition |
The second round of the Czech National High School Cyber Security Competition organized by the Czech Cyber Security Working Group and a number of government, academic and professional organizations ended successfully in March. The second round was attended by 283 students from the entire country, of which 263 met all the required criteria. The second selective round of competition was much more difficult than the first. Students suggested solutions to complicated security tasks that dealt with social engineering, technical aspects of cybersecurity, cryptanalysis, logic and forensic analysis, or monitoring network traffic analysis. High job demands were reflected in the final results, when only 74 students managed to stand up and defend their knowledge in the field of cybersecurity. The committee selected 30 finalists. Nineteen were rated as having very good to excellent knowledge. Detailed results are published on the competition website www.kybersoutez.cz. The most successful school in terms of number of students advancing to the finals was the Secondary Technical School at Prosek Prague. The second round winner,Tomas Rottenberg, was a 3rd year student of Boskovice High School. Rottenberg solved all security tasks and gained full points. In April and May the chapter will be preparing for the finals, which will take place on June 1 in Brno during the International Fair of Defense and Security Technologies. Contestants will be competing for a possible invitation to a series of accompanying activities prepared by Masaryk University in Brno by the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Czech Technical University in Prague and the specialized company CyberGym Europe, which runs a very unique cyber arena in Prague. The winners will have the opportunity to qualify for the European finals, which will take place in autumn 2017 in Spain. |
