Women Network, Share Insights at IT Luncheon

The chapter's Women's Outreach Committee hosted its first Women in the Industry (IT) luncheon in June at the HRC Complex at Fort Knox, Kentucky. The luncheon attracted 27 attendees, who came together to network and share their experiences with other women in the information technology field. As part of the Women in AFCEA initiative, Joy Begley, the chapter's women's outreach leader, coordinated this first event, which the chapter plans to hold annually. The program included an interactive activity called Networking Jeopardy. After the team-building activity, Begley shared insights about her experiences in the industry and opened up the floor for other women to share their stories. Several women shared how they began their journey and the great things they are doing in support of the Army. At the end of the conversations, the women discovered how closely bonded they really are, and it was an uplifting experience. Begley thanks Jenifer Spencer, Mandi Septer, Nikki Beatty, Kim Kimbrough, Bethany Begley, Nikki Ball, Kim Burke, Angela Alexander-Mendoza, the chapter's Executive Committee, Susan Emert and Ashley Becker for their support in planning and executing the event.
